Civil Disobedience ‘11-’12 Opens September 30!
September 13th, 2011Hip Hop lives at Civil Disobedience on Friday, 9/30 from 6-10pm!
This free event will feature an MC exhibition battle, DJ Pete Salaz, Automatic Response, the Human Project, and an open cipher. Come learn to write graf with BREEZE, learn to scratch on industry-standard DJ equipment, text your rhymes on the walls of the ASU Art Museum, and make some noise for the Civil Disobedience Sample Archive!

March 1st, 2011The ASU School of Music, School of Dance, and School of Theater and Film are hosting park jams in the Fine Arts Plaza on Saturday, March 26 from 3-6pm and Friday, April 22 from 6-10pm! Here’s a map with parking:

Join hosts Chris Couplin and Saza, DJs Senbad and Pete Salaz, and a wide range of other urban dancers, graf writers, MCs, spoken word poets, and DJs for some Saturday fun! Free, open to the public, and family friendly - so bring the kids and introduce them to real hip hop culture. Learn to write graffiti at our open graf clinic, learn to scratch at the scratch clinic, and don’t forget those dancing shoes.

Come Mix It Up With Hip Hop Legends at Civil Disobedience
September 17th, 2009The ASU School of Music will host an interactive conference on October 2 and 3 that will feature discussions, performances, and debates with GZA, Phonte, West Coast Kam, Fabel, Felicia Miyakawa, and others. The conference will include performances, papers, discussion panels, and more. Come engage with these scholars in Katzin Auditorium at the ASU School of Music! This event is free and open to the public.

Save the Date for “Civil Disobedience Part Wu”!
September 8th, 2009This year’s events will climax with a concert in Gammage Auditorium presented by the ASU School of Music and MPR Entertainment on Saturday, October 3 featuring Gza ”The Genius” of the Wu-Tang Clan, Phonte from Little Brother, Cut Throat Logic, Grime, Brother Kam, and others. Tickets are $11.50, and will be available at the Gammage box office and at Ticketmaster.com. Doors open at 8:00 pm and the show begins at 8:30.
President Crow Awards Medal to Civil Disobedience
June 24th, 2009The Civil Disobedience Graffiti Alley Project has been awarded the 2009 President’s Medal for Social Embeddedness. This medal recognizes ASU departmental, interdepartmental or multidisciplinary teams that have demonstrated excellence in fostering mutually supportive partnerships with Arizona communities to address community needs and implement successful solutions.
